Cambridge University Press is currently putting together a new series of books on music in the twentieth century, with Arnold Whittall, Professor Emeritus of King’s College, London, as editor-in-chief. Professor Whittall has invited me to write the book on Arnold Schoenberg for that series, and I have been awarded a contract by Cambridge University Press with a deadline of January 2006. “Schoenberg’s Musical Imagination” will place Schoenberg’s musical thought into a larger context in the history of ideas.
