A three-week seminar for sixteen school teachers on the history and cultures of Muslims in the United States.

The purpose of this three-week seminar for school teachers is to study the diverse facets of Muslim American identity, both as grounded in the past and as experienced in the present. Participants will reflect on and discuss thirty primary source documents and two major academic monographs; they will hear from two visiting scholars and visit two mosques; and they will create and present sixteen individual research projects. All of these activities will be directed toward answering a key question of our historical moment: what does it mean to be both Muslim and American?
