Implementation of a traveling exhibition on the Vietnam War that would also include a smaller panel exhibition, educational materials, a website, and companion volume.
The New-York Historical Society respectfully requests a Chairman’s Special Award of $1 million from the National Endowment for the Humanities to support a major touring history exhibition and educational initiative around the Vietnam War. Currently scheduled to open in New York in October 2017 and run through April 2018, the project will include a 3,500-square-foot exhibition, a suite of public programs, educational curricula, workshops for students and teachers, an illustrated publication, and a multimedia resource website. A condensed version of the exhibition, designed to serve libraries, universities, and other community centers, will begin a national travel itinerary in late 2017 to coincide with the New York opening, and the full exhibition will embark on a itinerary across the U.S. beginning in the summer of 2018.
