Implementation of multimedia components for a long-term exhibition about one African American high school's struggle to achieve racial integration, which became part of the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case "Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka."

"Moton 2011: the Permanent Exhibition," Phase II, A/V Components, Galleries II-VI supports the six-gallery exhibit which interprets Prince Edward Co., Virginia's 13-year transition (1951-64) from public school segregation to integration. The exhibit is housed within the NHL former R. R. Moton High School. The requested funds provide for final exhibit design, equipment acquisition, and programming of A/V components which present 1) the voices of Moton High School students subjected to unequal educational facilities under segregation; 2) pictorial evidence of racial inequalities considered in the 1954 Brown v. Board decision; 3) voices and faces of students locked-out, in opposition to Brown, of their Arlington, Charlottesville, Norfolk and Warren Co., Virginia schools during the 1958-1959 school year; and 4) the voices and faces of Prince Edward Co., Virginia children and families who endured four-years (1959-1963) of public school closure.
