To provide support for students in the Program in Western American . Studies for the M.A., for education in the history of the western U.S. and technical training for professional careers in museums in the West. The first year of this 2 part program is a year of academic study at the University, involving course work in the major field of American and western American history. The second year is an internship at a museum, providing technique training under the regular professional staff of the museum.
