Barbara Shissler (Project Director: November 1975 to present)

To fill a longstanding need for an authoritative and comprehensive study of Minnesota art and architecture, the University of Minnesota Gallery and the Minnesota Society of Architects in cooperation with the Minnesota State Historical Society, is staging an exhibit: "A Bi-Centennial Exhibit of Minnesota Art and Architecture." The exhibit is designed to further explore the art and architecture of the state and bring about a new appreciation of the part the upper midwest has played in American art and history as well as stimulate further scholarly work in the field. Portions of the exhibit will go on state-wide tour to 18 communities.
