To investigate the material culture, economic, and social organization and economic ramifications of slavery in five Central Texas counties during the period 1850-1870; to produce a set of research papers which will be used in restoring, furnishing, and interpreting a slave cabin at the Winedale Museum, as well as producing a series of exhibits and a body of teaching materials about slavery in this area; to produce a preliminary exhibition script; to locate slave houses and the sites of slave houses in the area; to identify a resource pool of scholars and other experts who would support future activities.
