FAIN: GM-11121-77

Neversink Valley Area Museum (Cuddebackville, NY 12729-0263)
Charles R. Thomas (Project Director: August 1977 to present)

To convey and interpret, through a travelling exhibit, the central New York region’s cultural legacy through an examination of various aspects of culture change which were precipitated by the development and growth of the Delaware and Hudson Canal. Emphasis will be placed upon canal cargoes, demonstrating the significant changes which occurred as a result of the availability of coal for energy and the canal as a means of transporting coal from or to a market, as well as a way to receive new products into an area.
