The American Renaissance

FAIN: GM-11251-77

Unaffiliated independent scholar
Dianne Pilgrim (Project Director: September 1977 to present)

To define, organize, and illustrate the concept of the American Renaissance (1876-1914); and point out its significant influence on American culture in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The exhibition will focus on the work of McKim, Mead, and White, a socially prominent architectural firm which promoted a "renaissance" architectural style through a synthesis of architectural structure and traditional artistic forms.
