Late Antique and Early Christian Art: 300 to 700 A.D.

To reexamine the relationship between late classical and early Christian art, through a major exhibition of 450 objects produced from the 4th to 7th centuries A.D., in diverse centers (Rome, Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, Carthage). Objects will be selected to illustrate the thematic and stylistic relation between classical and Christian art as well as to document visually the particularly complex social, cultural, and religious life of that time. Over 400,000 people are expected to view the exhibition.
