To exhibit 80 oils by Monet and 20 vintage photographs by Eugene Atget of related subjects which will be complemented by a preliminary contextual gallery will wall texts and work by Monet prior to 1883, an introductory gallery with blowups of period photography of the scenes Monet painted, and a 1/2 hour film to be produced on the exhibition with KMOX-TV. Exhibition aims to provide the Midwest access to the finest examples of Monet's work produced at Giverny and to enhance the general public's understanding of these works and the central role they play in the development of 20th century artistic perception by relating the artist and his paintings to the intellectual and political history of the period.
