To plan a symposium (in conjunction with the joint exhibition of Chinese painting from the Cleveland Museum and the Nelson Gallery - Atkins Museum) which will report, compare, and review current research in the field, resulting in part from archaeological and documentary data accumulated over the last nine years and from the recent accessibility of primary materials in mainland Chinese collections.
