FAIN: GM-11805-77

Museum of Modern Art (New York, NY 10019-5401)
John Elderfield (Project Director: May 1977 to present)

To present a comprehensive exhibition of Klee's work in all media and from all periods of his working life. His vast interests in other art forms, as well as in such fields as mythology, science, philosophy, and psychology, manifested themselves in his art and in his theoretical writings and defined for him an important role in the shaping of the early 20th century intellectual trends. Exhibition will include a series of orientation galleries designed to enhance the public's understanding of Klee's artistic development, his theories, and his connection with the art and thought of his time.
