Consultation to develop an interpretive exhibition, with school and public programs, to observe the museum's 50th anniversary by exploring how winter shapes a sense of place in the region.

The Museum of the Rockies will convene and consult with an advisory group and visit other regional museums in preparation for a long-term and traveling exhibition entitled, “Weathering the Years: The History of Winter in the Northern Rockies,” to commemorate the museum’s fiftieth anniversary in 2007. The exhibition will explore winter’s role in shaping a sense of place, tying together the region’s natural and cultural histories from the nineteenth century to the present. This project will contribute to American Western scholarship and provide the public with an accessible, informative and engaging exhibition that will offer deep insights into a place with dramatic winter weather and rich and diverse cultural traditions.
