Consultation with scholars to plan for a reinterpretation of a colonial complex in York, Pennsylvania, with special focus on the changes that occurred in the area as a result of the American Revolution.

YCHT will hire three humanities scholars to aid in the development of the intellectual and educational content for a reinterpretation of its Colonial Complex (3 historic sites/1 replica). The plan will upgrade traditional interpretative programming (guided tours, etc.) and integrate living history techniques into the visitor experience. YCHT has chosen the “York: Crossroads of the American Revolution” theme because: 1) Little research has been done on the impact of the War in the hinterland; and 2) York, PA, from 1775 to 1783, was a center of Revolutionary activity, supplying men/staples to the Continental Army, housing prisoners of war, and serving as provisional capital to the Continental Congress from September 30, 1777 to June 27, 1778.
