Radio Programming on "History Through Opera"

To do a feasibility study exploring the possibility of a series of radio programs dealing with the relationship between history and opera. 2 humanists from History Department, Clemson University, and two media specialists from Station WEPR, South Carolina Educational Radio Network, developed this idea from a class taught at Clemson last year dealing with this subject. To explore, through the medium of radio, the manner in which opera mirrors the social, intellectual, and cultural aspects of an era and the manner in which historical currents influence the form, style, and intellectual content of operatic productions. Money will be used for doing the humanistic research and consultations between the 2 media professionals and 2 humanists involved in project.
