To plan a thirteen—hour public TV series devoted to an examination of America's artistic heritage (painting, sculpture, architecture, decorative arts, and photography) from the first quarter of the 17th century through the mid-1960s. The series will relate the visual arts to the social fabric, economic forces, ideas and literature which surrounded their creation.
