Consultation with scholars for a television documentary on Thomas Paine (1737-1809).

Thomas Paine: Liberty's Messenger is a 2-hour documentary on the life and work of Thomas Paine (1737-1809). Beginning with Common Sense, arguably the most successful propaganda ever written, the documentary will look at his influence in both the American and French Revolutions. In the public view, Paine has traditionally been regarded as a forgotten figure. But today’s academic thinking is that Paine’s impact on our culture has sustained throughout successive generations. Liberty’s Messenger aims at a deeper understanding of his impact on American Democracy.
