Professionally directed community involvement archeological project to recover and disseminate information of Hampton's long and unique past (first settlement founded in 1607). ABSTRACT: Professionally directed community involvement archeological project to recover and disseminate information of Hampton's long and unique past (first settlement founded in 1607). Will draw on collective efforts of many community and historical societies in Hampton area, provide summer training for high school and college students. Information compiled will be made available to community at large through photo, slide and tape library available to area schools, radio and TV stations, community organizations. By providing black and white joint history of the building of Hampton, Association hopes to improve race relations within the community. Funds for instructional duties, typist, photo lab technician, salaries, project accountant, advisory staff, supplies.
