Continuation of H69-0-155, Archeology Field Course offered by Seattle Community College in conjunction with other community colleges in Seattle area to 1) gather data concerning Northwest cultures; 2) instruct students and amateur groups in archeological theory and field methods; 3) disseminate findings to interested institutions and individuals through reports, articles, film. Site near LaConner, Washington selected for excavation because of its significance for history of Skagit Valley and its wealth of important material relating to Northwest pre-historic and historic development. Under former grant, students and directors completed partial excavation of site. Field study supplemented by lectures, lab duties, discussions, excursions. Results revealed importance of site beyond expectations, new and complete excavation of entire Skagit River Delta. Two films of dig activities to be made for community presentation. Funds for salaries, wages, equipment, supplies, etc.
