A Planning grant to design a regional "History Day" program, an education program designed to encourage high-school and junior high school students to prepare projects, papers and performances on a historical theme to be judged by history professionals. The region chosen for the pilot is small enough to be manageable administratively on an experimental level and large enough to be representative in order to determine feasibility of similar programs on a broader scale.
