To research the history of New York's Black River Canal from its proposition by DeWitt Clinton in 1825 to its construction in 1837 and its abandoment in 1922. Through exhibits at local historical societies, the current inhabitatns of teh Black River Valley are shown the importance of the canal to their predescessors' way of life.
