To record, using primarily the techniques of oral history, the life of a labor lawyer, Elmer Stuart Smith. To relate the experience of this man's life-long struggle to obtain justice for working people after World War I. Smith's activities are largely left out of written historical accounts. The value of such a history is enhanced by its parallels with current political isssues.
