Ethnographic Film of Los Angeles Gypsies

The purpose of this project is to make an ethnographic film dealing with a cultural analysis of Gypsies in Los Angeles. It will address the paradoxes of accultration and tradition, as well as reality and transcendence of reality in a constantly changing and little documented American ethnic group. It will add to the data in visual anthroplogy by describing a group whose natural behavior and expressive vocabulary is best stated non-verbally.
