To catalogue, i.e., to identify country of origin and date of manufacture of Western papers which spans 5 centuries, now stored in the Houghton Library of Harvard U. To record for each sheet of paper qualitative characteristics by which it is identified and by which similar sheets might be identified. To make this collection of paper accessible, literally and intellectually, to scholars and historians for study and comparison.
