Development of a Reference Guide to Coeur d'Alene Indian Art

To preserve Coeur d'Alene Indian heritage by developing an accurate reference guide which will transmit artistic procedures to succeeding generations. The guide will be developed from analysis of museum and private collections and from interviews with four experts of Coeur d'Alene art and community members. It will provide a brief history of the tribe, an analysis of the importance of art in daily life, an outline of traditional values, and a description of methods used in the production of artworks.
