To determine how a dance tradition, directly linked to the first American settlers, has been able to survive for 200 years and to observe how the dances have evolved in order that they continue as a viable and vital folk tradition in New England. Labanotated folk dance scores and a written analysis of the folk dance tradition will be produced.
