To analyze and compare historical data on the social and economic conditions contained in two 13th century Catholic Church documents, the Polyptychum and Regestrum Visitationum. To compare the regular and secular clergy and their socio-economic positions in Normandy (1248-1269), isolate reasons for their differences, and offer evidence of their differences vis a vis the important political activity of the time. Methodology will be both quantitative and qualitative.
