To publish a book about the history of the New England Hospital for Women and Children, operating in Boston from 1862 to 1959. The attempts of its founder, Marie Sakrzewska, to improve women's health care will be analyzed through document research and interviews with surviving staff members. The evolving ideology of the hospital, and its reasons for closing will be investigated.
