This project is a book manuscript that will be the first study of narratives of the Russian Revolution between 1905 and 1930. It examines political consciousness of the revolutionary period and provides a literary and historical analysis of narrative construction, storytelling, revolutionary activism, historical memory, and identity. This research examines the rhetoric of revolution as embedded within Russian traditions of the family and the ways in which the revolutions attempted to break down and rebuild those traditions. It also investigates shifts in narrative structures and genres to expose these concepts, challenges to them, and the reconstruction of a new family "tradition" during the early Soviet period.
