NEH on the Road: Carnaval

The museum requests a $1,000 stipend to help support the cost of public humanities programming when hosting the Carnaval! exhibition. Projects under consideration include: hosting academic experts from Central Florida educational institutions to provide lectures/panel discussions in ethnomusicology, humanities, dance and religion;panel discussion involving local community members that have traveled and experienced various Carnaval celebrations around the world; the creation of a summer educational outreach program to various summer enrichment camps, area summer schools, and non-profit organizations, each receiving educational exhibition materials during a pre-visit and participation in a gallery visit, guided exhibition tour, and related art activity; Brazilian music/Samba dance demonstration open to the local community; and an integration of the exhibition's thematic elements with the project curriculum of the CFCC Summer Arts Camp for area high school students.
