Consultation with conservators who will provide preservation training for staff and volunteers on environmental monitoring and on the storage and display of quilts.
The New England Quilt Museum is requesting support for preservation activites recommended by a 2003 General Conservation Assessment (CAP). The first component of the project is to have a professional conservator train our staff and volunteers in the basic tasks related to the storage of quilts and their preparation for display. The conservator will also prepare a binder of reference materials that will serve the as a collections manual for the museum. The second component of the project is to have a consultant evaluate the data collected from a year of environmental monitoring. The consultant will make recommendations and help us create a long-range plan for environmental control at the museum.
