The installation of light filtering film and interior shades on windows in the 18th-century Wentworth Coolidge Mansion to protect collections from exposure to light.
The Wentworth-Coolidge Commission, by authorization of the State Division of Parks and Recreation, had undertaken testing variants of ultra-violet (UV) filters and room-darkening shades for the protection of the interiors and artifacts in the Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion, a National Historic Landmark. The UV protection test project was funded by an NEH Preservation Assistance grant. The State seeks a grant to purchase permanent and durable preservation supplies for UV protection. The light control system is based upon the results of the test project and the recommendations of the preservation consultant, the site Executive Director, and the State Historical Resources office.
