FAIN: PA-51510-06

Rocky Mountain College (Billings, MT 59102-1739)
Janet S. H. Jelinek (Project Director: May 2005 to March 2007)

General preservation and archival management assessments, the purchase of supplies, and a one-day workshop for archival, manuscript, and photographic collections related to the history of Rocky Mountain College and the settlement of Montana from 1878 to the present.

The RMC Heritage Archives wishes to contract with Idaho State Archivist Steven Walker to conduct a three-day general assessment of the Archives’ resources, resulting in a written report, and one-day training workshop. Library/Archives staff will use the report as a base for developing an archival management plan, patron use policies, and best practices for processing and cataloguing holdings. The report will include practical solutions for maximizing use of existing equipment, furniture, space, and supplies; and will provide a list of additional items deemed essential. RMC has never received NEH funds and is seeking a $5,000 grant to cover the costs of the assessment, training, and purchase of archival equipment, supplies, and furniture.
