Preservation of the Jericho Public Library's Local History Collection

FAIN: PA-51532-06

Jericho Public Library (Jericho, NY 11753-1726)
Elizabeth Murphy (Project Director: May 2005 to April 2007)

The purchase of light filters, a storage cabinet, and preservation supplies for books, manuscripts, archival records, photographs, and other records related to the history of Jericho, New York, from the 17th through the 20th century.

The Jericho Public Library requests a Preservation Assistance Grant to implement our short-, medium- and long-term priorities as outlined in our Preservation Planning Survey. The Library has made significant progress toward insuring the long-term survival of the local history collection, but there are important preservation needs still to be addressed. Our goal is to meet our short -and medium-term priorities so we can focus on the long-term priorities. Our long-range plans are to make this room as archivally correct, and as secure yet as accessible as possible.
