Preservation Assessment of Marymount Manhattan College Archives

An assessment of the disaster response, security, and facility needs of the archive as well as the preservation and management of textual, audiovisual, and photographic records related to the college's institutional history and to former New York congresswoman Geraldine Ferraro.

MMC seeks funding to: 1. Analyze space needs and make projections for the next 15-20 years; 2. Analyze patron use and recommend measures to secure the collection and provide workspace; 3. Assess fire, heat, humidity, light, pest and theft risks; 4. Prepare a disaster plan; 5. Make recommendations for the reformatting of the archive’s audiovisual materials; 6. Make recommendations regarding the storage and cataloguing of the archive’s collection of three-dimensional objects; 7. Assess the finding guides for their conversion to electronic formats accessible via the Internet; 8. Assess staff needs and training; 9. Create a finding guide template for the archivist; 10. Identify ways to incorporate the archive into the curriculum.
