A preservation assessment and purchase of storage supplies for archival holdings related to the Vail family and their ownership of the Speedwell Iron Works from 1790 to 1913 .

The project will prepare the archival collection for relocation by consolidating it to one room, with the exception of duplicate-image storage of important documents off-site. Morris County Park Commission will establish environmental controls to the building as part of its 2004 5-year plan. Archivally appropriate, lightweight storage shelving and archival document boxes need to be purchased to complete the storage consolidation. This storage format will be a consistent and accessible organizational plan. To prepare for the consolidation prior to relocation, an extensive inventory was performed in 2004. Currently, a finding aid is being implemented to organize the collection which measures approximately 58 linear feet.
