FAIN: PA-51555-06

University of Arkansas, Monticello (Monticello, AR 71656-0001)
Mary Cleta Heady (Project Director: May 2005 to April 2007)

A preservation assessment of the special collections of the University of Arkansas-Monticello Library and a preservation training workshop for staff of the library and of other cultural heritage institutions in the area.

This NEH Preservation Assistance grant would provide funds to hire a consultant. The consultant will conduct a preservation site assessment of library collections, with an emphasis on special collections, make recommendations for action, and provide a workshop. Volunteers and employees from local cultural heritage institutions will be invited to attend the workshop. The results of this grant will be to empower library staff to make needed improvements to the storage of library materials and historical documents. Local cultural heritage institutions will also benefit from the opportunity to learn more about the care of their collections.
