FAIN: PA-51557-06

Detroit Historical Society (Detroit, MI 48202-4009)
Marianne Weldon (Project Director: May 2005 to October 2006)

An assessment of the security needs at the Detroit Historical Museum, the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, and Historic Fort Wayne, which house 150,000 artifacts reflecting the history of Detroit and southeastern Michigan.

The Detroit Historical Museums and Society (DHMS) is proposing a project that would include a comprehensive security assessment for each of the three sites that house our collections: the Main Museum, the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, and Historic Fort Wayne. A comprehensive written report after the survey is complete will include detailed recommendations and suggestions to bring the institution into full compliance with the “Suggested Guidelines for Museum Security.” The goal of this project is for the DHMS to have a comprehensive and integrated security plan for each of the sites in order to maintain the integrity of our collections.
