Rare Book School (Charlottesville, VA 22903-2444)
Barbara Elizabeth Heritage (Project Director: May 2005 to September 2007)

The purchase of storage furniture and preservation supplies to house oversized teaching materials, including 700 prints and 1,730 specimens of papermaking, typography, illustration processes, and manuscript leaves.

This project will support the purchase of furniture and preservation supplies necessary to rehouse Rare Book School's oversized teaching collections. Affected collections include 702 prints and 1,730 specimens of papermaking, bibliographical format, typography, and manuscript. With the purchase of six five-drawer flat file units, RBS will redistribute this collection, relocate oversized materials currently in remote storage to files where they are immediately needed in class, and plan for future growth of oversized collections. In addition, RBS will purchase polyester, foil-backed labels, and acid-free boxes to improve existing storage within its collections of oversized prints and specimens.
