A preservation assessment and the purchase of rehousing supplies for an archives that documents American Indian arts.

The Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) requests $5000 from the NEH Preservations Assistance Grants for Smaller Institutions. These funds would allow IAIA to hire a professional archivist to conduct a general preservation assessment of the Institute’s archives and to help draft a long-range plan for the care of this historical collection. These funds would additionally support the purchase of preservation supplies such as storage containers, and the reorganization of the archive's paper objects, slides and videotapes into this new storage. Funding for these activities would improve the ability for IAIA to preserve and care for its historical archives.
