FAIN: PA-51592-06

Marian University (Indianapolis, IN 46222-1960)
Kelley Griffith (Project Director: May 2005 to October 2006)

The purchase of storage furniture, environmental monitoring equipment, and preservation supplies to rehouse textual records related to college history as well as manuscripts and other materials of the founders of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, whose former estates now comprise the Marian College campus.

The Preservation Assistance Grant will support the purchase of supplies, storage furniture and environmental monitoring and lighting equipment for the Marian College Archives in the Mother Theresa Hackelmeier Memorial Library, as recommended in a preservation assessment report prepared in 2004. The Archives house documents, photos, blueprints and other materials related to the history of Marian College from 1937 to the present, as well as information about the lives and former estates of James, Allison, Carl Fisher and Frank Wheeler, three of the founders of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indianapolis 500 race whose estates comprise the Marian campus.
