FAIN: PA-51597-06

Historic Hope Foundation, Inc. (Windsor, NC 27983-7458)
Glenn Perkins (Project Director: May 2005 to October 2007)

The purchase and installation of equipment to monitor environmental conditions in Historic Hope Plantation's two historic buildings, which display collections of North Carolina furniture, textiles, decorative arts, and household artifacts.

Historic Hope Foundation, Inc., (HHF) is requesting a Preservation Assistance Grant of $4,939 to establish an environmental monitoring program for the historic buildings housing the museum’s collections. Through this project HHF will (1) purchase dataloggers for collections areas, a data transporter, data management software, and a lux meter; (2) install the loggers and establish a monitoring program and environmental control targets in consultation with preventive conservator Catherine Anderson of Colonial Williamsburg Foundation; (3) analyze 9 months of data; (4) prioritize environmental needs for the collections areas and plan for more comprehensive treatments based on Ms. Anderson’s recommendations.
