A preservation needs assessment of the environment of the Department of Special Collections and Archives and the condition of its collections, which document the history of northern Kentucky and the greater Cincinnati region during the last two hundred years. The consultant would advise on the long-term care of the collections and recommend supplies for purchase.

The W. Frank Steely Library at Northern Kentucky University proposes to develop a long-range plan for the care of its special collections in the Department of Special Collections and Archives. With funding from the Preservation Assistance Grant we will utilize the expertise of a consultant to conduct a preservation needs assessment. The consultant will assess the general condition of the collections, and its organization, housing, security, and storage environment and submit a final report summarizing prioritized recommendations for our collections' long-term care and needs. The consultant will also recommend supplies to be purchased that will support the preservation of the collections.
