Town of Warrensburg Museum of Local History (Warrensburg, NY 12885-3912)
Steve Parisi (Project Director: May 2005 to April 2007)

Hiring a preservation specialist to conduct an assessment of the textile collection of the Warrensburg Museum of Local History and to lead a workshop for staff and volunteers on cleaning textiles and proper storage procedures. The museum will also purchase storage materials to rehouse the collection.

The Warrensburg Museum of Local History contains a collection of more than 300 articles of apparel and other textiles, dating from the early nineteenth century into the mid twentieth century. To reverse years of neglect the Town seeks a professional assessment of the collection’s condition, to learn proper cleaning techniques and correct storage procedures, and to obtain appropriate storage materials. The Town has enlisted the support of members of the Warrensburgh Historical Society to perform these procedures, once properly trained. This collection was donated by local townspeople in the 1970s and 1980s after the Museum’s founding in 1975.
