FAIN: PA-51627-06

Dakota State University (Madison, SD 57042-1799)
Rise L. Smith (Project Director: May 2005 to February 2007)

The purchase of storage shelving and preservation supplies to rehouse collections related to local history and to the institutional history of the university, 1881 to the present.

The Dakota State University Historical Archives, located in the Karl E. Mundt Library, houses material dating from 1881 to the present. The collections relate to the history of Dakota State University, local history, and the history of public higher education in South Dakota. Shelving is needed to replace non-conservation shelving and to expand the shelving area to accommodate more material. Acid-free storage containers are needed to properly store and conserve collections. This project is based on the preservation assessment and recommendations of Neil C. Cockerline, Director of Field Services and Conservator of the Upper Midwest Conservation Association.
