Purchase of Monitoring Equipment to Preserve Texas Hill Country Collections

FAIN: PA-51634-06

Schreiner University (Kerrville, TX 78028-5611)
Candice Scott (Project Director: May 2005 to September 2007)

The purchase of environmental monitoring equipment, ultraviolet filtering sleeves, and appropriate storage equipment for the university's Texas Hill Country Collection and preservation training for members of the staff.

Logan Library seeks materials and staff training to help us continue implementation of the first segment of a three-stage strategic plan for the long-term care of our collection. Our planning process began in 2002 with the help of an NEH Preservation Assistance Grant. While our efforts will attend the needs of our entire collection, we hope to also target specifically our Texas Hill Country Special Collection. We wish to follow the suggestions of consultant Jean Baldwin: purchase the required equipment, establish baseline procedures and policies for collection preservation, and implement a strategic plan for site improvement and staff training.
