FAIN: PA-51655-06

Yale University (New Haven, CT 06510-1703)
Cynthia Roman (Project Director: May 2005 to September 2006)

A conservation assessment of the 18th-century British prints and drawings in the Lewis Walpole Library, and the development of a comprehensive plan for conservation treatment as needed for the 30,000 items in the collection.

For this project, the Library will hire a professional conservation consultant who specializes in works of art on paper to conduct a general preservation assessment of the prints and drawings collections. The Conservator will then work with the Curator to develop a comprehensive plan for conservation treatments as necessary. The resulting improvements in the preservation of these humanities collections will insure that they continue to be available as an important resource in the United States for the study of eighteenth-century Anglo-American culture and aesthetics.
