Staff Training and General Preservation Assessment of the Archive Collection

A general preservation assessment and training workshops to preserve manuscripts, correspondence, books, and other materials related to the local history of Rehoboth, Massachusetts, from the 17th through the 19th century.

Archivist Polly Darnell will conduct an on-site general preservation assessment of the Society’s archival collection generating 1) recommendations for the improvement of storage facilities, materials, and equipment, 2) draft plan for improving the arrangement of archival materials and creating useful finding aids, and 3) evaluation of current practices and policies and recommendations on how to improve access to materials. Consultant will help RAS draft a long-range plan for the care of our humanities collections. A training workshop will be given, and five members of RAS will enroll in an online workshop on archives from AASLH.
