Conservation Assessment for Art Gallery and Carriage Museum

FAIN: PA-51674-06

Genesee Country Village and Museum (Mumford, NY 14511-0310)
Patricia M. Tice (Project Director: May 2005 to April 2007)

A consultant's preservation assessment of the art and artifact collections held by the Genesee Country Village and Museum.

GCVM proposes to hire conservator Barbara Moore to conduct a general conservation assessment of its John L. Wehle Art Gallery and Carriage Museum. The conservator will review a 1998 environmental survey which briefly mentions the two facilities. She will then document the physical and environmental conditions under which the collections in each are exhibited and stored. This review will consider environmental factors, including lighting, dust, temperature, relative humidity, and pests; evaluate current physical storage methods, storage equipment and supplies; review exhibit methods; and provide guidance for improvement.
